When my sister and I were kids there was a park out near my grandparents' house that we called The Princess Park. I've been told that the architect who designed it only built a handful of these parks, and he only made them in the Midwest. Imagine my surprise a few years ago when I was driving through Waverly (one of the towns we live near in Iowa) and saw our Princess Park!
Sure, it's a little different, but it has the tell-tale steeples and similar layout. The most incredible part is the fact that this park is 18 years old! The park in Illinois that my sister and I loved has long since been torn down. I'm sure it fell into disrepair and the city had no choice but to put a much easier to care for playground up in its place.
Now we can re-live our days of playing tag with our dad in the Princess Park when we make the 20 minute drive to Waverly.

My brother is a runner. He thought it would be a whole lot of fun to race my dogs at the park. Bandit kind of jogged next to him, and kept looking at him. I'm pretty sure she was trying to figure out why he was running so fast. She let him win. :)

We had a great time at the park. It's definitely worth the trip if you have kids and live kind of near Waverly.

P.S. If you look in the picture at the very top of our blog you can see a big honkin' SUV behind us. That's our 'new' Yukon. Pretty sweet, huh?
I'll post pictures of it sometime soon.
What a cool park! As soon as Samantha can say it, she'll demand to go there often :) Sweet truck too!
