Our Action Packed Day

Well today was Samantha's 6 month check up with her doctor. I tried to remember what it was like taking her to the doctor when she was 2 weeks old for her first check up, and I couldn't do it. That may have been because I was preoccupied with trying to keep her from ripping the entire roll of paper off the bed/table thing they have in the clinic rooms. This kid literally kept grabbing that paper, tearing tiny pieces off and trying to stick them in her mouth. At least she wasn't trying to throw herself off the table.
As always the shots were torture. She calmed down very quickly afterwards, but she cried the hardest I've ever seen her cry.
I was able to take the afternoon off to be with Samantha today. I always have that little bit of paranoia that she'll have a bad reaction to one of her vaccinations, and I like to be with her for the 12 to 24 hours after she gets them.
For lunch Sammy got to have a cube of sweet potato, and as always she gobbled it up like she was never going to eat again. This girl loves eating with a spoon!
We took a trip down to the park this afternoon so Samantha could sit in the swing again. As we were getting ready to walk out the door she grabbed on to her yellow elephant and wouldn't let it go. So the elephant came on our walk, and it got to sit in the swing with her. What a lucky little toy, I'm sure all the other ones are jealous!
Samantha was introduced to the wonderful thing that is a sippy cup today. There was only a little bit of water in it so it was light enough for her to handle easily. She seemed more interested in chewing on the spout than actually trying to drink from it, but she kind of started to figure it out towards the end. Give her a week and she'll be a pro.
The rest of our afternoon looked kind of like this:
It took a few hours but I think her flu shot started to mess with her system. She's been crying on and off since about 3:00 this afternoon. I was supposed to go to church for volunteer training tonight, but that definitely wasn't happening after she hit this panic mode.
She just finished up in the tub a minute ago so it's time for me to get off the computer and get her ready for bed.

  1. Boo! Shots are the worst :( But getting the flu & Hep is worse! So goes it...! We have the same high chair! Love it! No worries- Samantha will have that sippy cup figured out in no time. Just let her play with it long enough & she'll figure it out. Same thing with those cups with flip-out straws - B loves those! Munchkin makes them I think...anyway, it's just something new that is 'ok' to jam in their mouth, so what's not to love!?
